In August 2013 we signed a mutual recognition of membership agreement with the Australian HR Institute (AHRI). So if you’re a CIPD member, you can become a member of AHRI. And if you’re an AHRI member, you can become a member of the CIPD.

From August 2018, this mutual recognition has also been extended to Academic membership. So if you hold CIPD Academic membership, you can gain Academic membership of AHRI. And if you hold AHRI Academic membership, you can gain Academic membership of the CIPD.

As part of the agreement you’ll also have full access to both CIPD and AHRI exclusive member benefits.

Please take a look below to see how the membership grades are matched:

  • If you’re an Associate Member (Assoc CIPD) your grade of membership is equivalent to a Professional Member of AHRI (MAHRI).
  • If you’re a Chartered Member (Chartered MCIPD) your grade of membership is equivalent to a Certified Practitioner Human Resources (CPHR).
  • If you’re a Chartered Fellow (Chartered FCIPD) your grade of membership is equivalent to a Fellow Certified Practitioner Human Resources (FCPHR).

CIPD members

If you’re a CIPD Associate, or Chartered Member and would like to benefit from joint membership you’ll need to provide proof of your membership and a current curriculum vitae, and on joining you’ll automatically be awarded the equivalent membership grade of AHRI.
