CIPD Qualification 

If you successfully complete a CIPD qualification, we’ll send you a CIPD qualification certificate in the post. We’ll also email you a PDF of your certificate on the day we print it. 

If you’re in active membership, you’ll gain CIPD accreditation (letters after your name). We’ll send you a membership certificate at your new grade in the post.  

PLEASE NOTE: If you live in the UK or Ireland, we will post your certificates to your preferred address. If you live outside the UK or Ireland, your CIPD qualification certificate will go to your study centre to send to you.  

Please ensure that your name, postal and email addresses are up to date. You can do this by checking your details your profile on the CIPD website.  

University programmes  

Qualification certificates for university programmes will be awarded by the university. They'll contact you about these certificates.  

Your university will also notify us when you've successfully completed your qualification. 

Once we've processed the admin, we'll email you a PDF result confirmation letter to your preferred email address. 

If you're an active CIPD member, we'll issue you with a membership certificate at your new grade in the post.  

It's important that you keep your contact details up to date. Check that your name, postal and email addresses are up to date. You can do this by checking your details your profile on the CIPD website.  

The Foundation Certificate in People Practice leads to Foundation Membership. Associate and Advanced Diplomas lead to Associate Membership. 

If you're in active membership, we'll post you a membership certificate at your new grade. You'll receive your membership certificate within 10 days of it being issued. (This can take a while longer if we’re posting it to a non-UK address.) 

If you've completed an Advanced Diploma, you can apply to have your professional experience assessed to upgrade to Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow. It’s free of charge if done within 12 months of gaining Associate Member grade. If you’re unsuccessful at your first attempt, later applications are subject to fees.

If you have an existing qualification that you achieved within the last five years that isn’t awarded by the CIPD, you may be able to apply for an exemption towards a CIPD qualification that leads to membership. Use this flowchart to help you.

The application process will involve a mapping exercise. We map the qualification you studied against the CIPD qualification you want to study. You can gain up to 50% of a CIPD qualification through this process; you’ll be required to take the rest of the qualification at a CIPD study centre in order to achieve CIPD membership.  

The CIPD accepts international qualifications if they’re accompanied by a comparability statement and certificate from the UK National Recognition Information Centre (UK NARIC) confirming the equivalent UK level and meets the mapping exercise. A great way to make yourself stand out is to gain some work experience while you study.  

• St John’s Ambulance is often looking for volunteers to work in HR for them. This can be as little as three hours per week. (You’ll find lots of charities have HR volunteering opportunities.) 

• You can find a list of volunteering jobs on the People Management website.

• We also offer volunteering opportunities to help support our members’ professional development. Find out about CIPD’s volunteering opportunities.

CIPD Qualification Certificates 

If you want to change the name on your certificate, we'll need to know the reason. Especially if it's a long time since we issued your certificate. 

We only accept reprints if the name change is due to legal reasons, immigration issues, divorce, or a spelling mistake. We'll ask for appropriate evidence. If acceptable, we'll contact you to return the original. We'll then re-issue a new certificate with your amended name. 

We can't issue a new qualification certificate if your name has changed due to marriage. Or for example you want to add your middle name. This is because the name on your certificate is correct at the point it was issued.  

Should you misplace your qualification certificate, we are able to offer a replacement. Please contact our Customer Service team via our contact form.

Replacement certificates cost £30. We’re only able to offer qualification certificate reprints for CIPD qualifications.  

If you completed a CIPD accredited university degree, please contact the university.
