Cost of living: How does employee financial wellbeing impact the workplace?

Price rises have increased again in the UK after a slowing of inflation last autumn. As everyday costs rise, we've published analysis on why employers need to support their employees’ financial wellbeing and how you can approach it in your organisation.

New tools to ensure your employee induction programme hits the mark

A new employee’s first impressions of an organisation can have a big impact on job satisfaction and how well they settle in. An effective induction will make sure that they’re properly welcomed to the organisation, help them to settle in and give them the information they need to perform effectively. It can also have an impact on engagement and retention.

We’ve published a range of new tools to help you make sure your induction programme hits the mark for your new starters.

Employing overseas workers responsibly – the role of the profession

Many employers value workers from overseas due to the diverse knowledge and skills they bring. But people professionals have an important role to play in making sure migrant workers are recruited and employed responsibly and within the law.

We published an updated factsheet this month that sets out the different categories of overseas workers, explains the legal framework and highlights the risks of employing people illegally.

Supporting flexible working opportunities in your organisation

Flexibility around where and when people work is increasingly in demand, but the number of quality flexible jobs falls short of that demand – even though the benefits for people and business are well documented.

We published an updated factsheet this month that explains the different flexible working arrangements, the benefits of flexible working and some ideas for putting flexible working into place in your organisation.

Building better workplaces with the CIPD Trust

The CIPD Trust is dedicated to helping organisations develop future leaders, create fair and equitable workplace cultures and drive positive change. This month, we've been sharing inspirational stories of how we’re helping to build better workplaces and encouraging our community to get involved programmes to support underrepresented groups such as refugees and people with convictions.

For example, we released a special podcast focusing on how organisations can create more employment opportunities for prison leavers, featuring expert contributors. Together, they explored how inclusive recruitment can transform lives and strengthen workplaces and communities across the UK.
