The World ParaAthletics Championships and the IAAF World Championships to be held in London next summer will rely on an army of 4,000 volunteers to help the events run smoothly.
To help select the right volunteers, Team London and London 2017 have asked for the CIPD’s support in finding 650 HR and recruitment specialists to help with the selection process.
The voluntary role will include welcoming candidates, facilitating group activities and taking part in one-to-one interviews. The 650 volunteers will be responsible for making a fair judgement on a variety of criteria and assessing a candidate’s ability to lead a team. Training will be provided. Volunteering is a great way for professionals to enhance their skills and experience, whilst giving something back to the community. This opportunity is particularly suited to HR professionals who want to develop their recruitment experience. The CIPD also offers opportunities designed to draw on other HR skills, including mentoring through our Steps Ahead programme, and strategic advice, though the Enterprise Adviser Network.
