Mothers, fathers, partners and adoptive parents are entitled to a range of paternity, maternity or adoption leave and pay and shared parental leave rights, both before and after birth or adoption.

The Employment Rights Act 2025 will make it unlawful to dismiss a woman, while pregnant, on maternity leave and within six months of returning to work (with some exceptions).
