Explore employers’ hiring, redundancy and pay plans for the year ahead

This month, we published our quarterly Labour Market Outlook, based on a survey of over 2,000 UK employers. The report showed that employer hiring confidence in the UK remains at a record low.

Expectations surrounding the impact of AI on jobs are playing a role, with one in six employers surveyed anticipating that AI will lead them to reduce their workforce over the next year. But 6% of employers also say AI will lead them to increase headcount over the same period.

Practical tools to strengthen your organisation’s approach to flexible working

Our practical tools – exclusively for CIPD members – help you plan, implement and manage flexible, hybrid and remote working.

The resources include practical checklists, flowcharts and a quiz covering everything from building the business case to managing requests and measuring impact. Used in conjunction with our expert guidance, they’re a great way to strengthen your professional practice. And don’t forget, whenever you learn something new from any of our resources, it counts towards your CPD – just remember to log your reflections in the ‘My CPD records’ area of the CIPD Learning Hub.

We also shared regional insight for Wales from our Good Work Index this month, which covers the impact of flexible work on quality of life.

Benchmark your workplace reporting practices against UK’s big employers

Working with pension fund managers Railpen, we’ve published valuable new data and insight on the current state of workforce reporting at the UK’s largest companies. The report shows the improvements made since our last report in 2022 and highlights gaps across areas such as workforce cost and composition, employee relations and wellbeing, employee voice and skills and capabilities.

Based on an assessment of FTSE 100 annual reports and focus groups with investors and HR leaders, the report gives you data to benchmark your organisation and practical recommendations to help strengthen your expertise in workforce analytics and reporting.

The latest UK employment law roundup

The Employment Rights Bill is set to bring a whole host of changes to employment law in the UK. Improving support for women’s health at work

Our team joined government ministers, experts and employers at a roundtable on renewing the Women’s Health Strategy. The discussion focused on practical ways to improve support for women’s health at work so that they can perform at their best throughout all stages of their lives and careers. Building on our recent parliamentary reception and joint letter with the Society of Occupational Medicine, we highlighted the cost of inadequate support on productivity and the need for a strong women’s health employment strategy.
