Our response to the Department for Education’s call for evidence to review the existing national curriculum and statutory assessment system in England.
We sent our feedback to the Curriculum and Assessment Review, highlighting the need to equip young people with the core essential and transferrable skills needed for success in the workplace.
Most of the questions in this call for evidence were outside the CIPD’s expertise, so we tailored our response around our work developing a Universal Framework for Essential Skills (the Skills Builder Universal Framework), and building these essential workplace skills for young people more effectively in education.
We highlight the need to adopt the Universal Framework, and also urge the review to adopt the features of effective curriculum and assessment design, which include:
