About the speakers

Margaret Ayers – Chief People Officer at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Margaret has been a HR professional for more than 20 years. She began her HR career in the retail sector and has worked as HR Director at four universities: CCCU, Edinburgh, Kent, and Queen Mary University of London. Her main accomplishment in these roles has been in creating meaningful people strategies that support the organisation and the people who work in it.

She has a very broad appreciation of HR, from people development and organisational development to employment law (which she studied for a postgraduate diploma) and reward. She used to teach Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development students reward and employment resourcing at a local college. She’s also interested in how the whole organisation works, and enjoys being part of SMT and working beyond the HR function.

Jane Stringfellow - Wave Brand Consultancy

Jane is the founder of Wave Brand Consultancy. Her clients have included the Grosvenor Property Group London, RADA Business, the Ping Pong Restaurant chain and many SMEs. She also works with individuals who need to manage their own personal brand.

Prior to founding Wave Brand Consultancy, Jane worked as a senior brand consultant at Wolff Olins, one of the world’s leading brand consultancies, where she was responsible for creating new brands and advising clients on how to best develop and exploit their existing brands. She has also worked as Head of Employer Brand at Aviva.

Sean Lane of Thumbnail Creative

Sean is an experienced designer with some thirty years of experience behind him. In 2017, he decided to set up his own design agency, Thumbnail Creative to help give clients the best creative solutions to help their businesses grow.

Oli Howard Head of Membership and Product Portfolio, CIPD.

Oli is currently responsible for membership, product portfolio, online communities and UK regional teams at the CIPD, having been with the Institute for seven years in a range of management roles.

Prior to the CIPD, he spent most of his career in internal and change communication roles - either as part of or working closely with people teams - including at the Civil Aviation Authority, Scope and Royal Mail. He has also advised organisations large and small on branding, communication and stakeholder communication and teaches employee communication at Masters level.
