Awareness of how to move forward positively for those with chronic illness in the workplace

As 1 in 3 of the working age population are living with at least one chronic health condition it is critical that disability and chronic illnesses form a big part of an organisation's approach to diversity, equity and inclusion.


This session will:

  • Increase your awareness and knowledge on how to manage chronic illness in the workplace
  • Cover reasonable adjustments and Health passports
  • Provide tips on how to move forward positively


About the speaker

Sarah Berthon

Sarah Berthon is the founder of Excel against the Odds and is passionate about supporting people with chronic illness in the workplace.

Sarah lives with several chronic illnesses including PoTS, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, ME/CFS and Chronic Migraine and has experience of working in Corporate Organisations and running her own businesses whilst living with these conditions.

Sarah provides mentoring and a membership for employees with chronic illnesses and provides training and support for organisations to help them better support employees with these conditions.

Sarah also supports business owners with chronic illnesses and offers mentoring and workshops as well as a free community in the Entrepreneurs against the Odds Facebook group. She hosts the Excel against the Odds podcast talking about the successes and challenges of working with a chronic illness.

Sarah is on the Steering Board of the Lilac Review, a government backed project looking at tackling the inequalities faced by disabled entrepreneurs. Excel against the Odds was selected to be part of the Small Biz 100 in 2021. Sarah was chosen to be part of the #ialso F:entrepreneur campaign in 2023 celebrating the UK’s 100 most inspiring female business owners. She is also a Purple Tuesday Ambassador.
