OD&D Network: Focus on
Relational OD

Organisational Development and Design Network event

Date: Tuesday 6 October 2026

Time: 12:00 - 13:15

Location: Online

Explore practical relational skills to help OD, HR and People professionals work confidently with complexity, ambiguity and change.
In this session, Gareth Evans will explore the relational skills at the heart of effective Organisational Development practice, especially in organisational spaces shaped by complexity, ambiguity, diversity and emergence.

Gareth will share seven relational processes and five relational micro-practices that support practitioners to work more skilfully with what is happening in the room, in the relationship and across the wider system.

The session will connect these ideas to core OD principles and practices, including use of self as instrument, reflexivity, shared inquiry and working live with the group processes that emerge in real time when we work with groups, teams and systems.

This will be a practical and reflective session for OD practitioners, HR and People professionals, leaders, coaches and facilitators who want to deepen the relational quality of their work and develop greater confidence in working with complexity as it unfolds.

OD&D Network: Focus on
organisational absurdity

Organisational Design and Development Network event

Date: Tuesday 2 February 2027

Time: 12:00 - 13:15

Location: Online

Most people who work in organisations have experienced moments where things feel absurd.

The meeting where everyone appears to agree, but leaves with a different understanding. The same issue that returns to the agenda again and again. The strategy that looks coherent on paper, but never quite connects with how work actually happens. The polite silence when everyone knows something important is being avoided.

These moments can be funny. They can also be deeply frustrating. But they may also be useful signals.

In this session, we will be joined by Charleen Johnson, founder of InSpark Group and author of the 2026 Workplace Absurdities Report, to explore how absurdity shows up in organisational life and what it may be trying to tell us.

Charleen’s work invites us to look beneath the surface of workplace contradictions, mixed messages and strange recurring patterns. Rather than treating absurdity as simply irrational or dysfunctional, we will consider what function it may be serving, what it reveals about the wider system and what it may be costing people and organisations.
