About this event

Join us for this event plus our branch annual meeting.

As the newest generation in the workforce reshapes expectations around flexibility, purpose, communication, and career development, many organisations are feeling the pressure to adapt — quickly and strategically.

In this insightful session, former Managing Director turned PhD researcher Jonathan Pritchard shares findings from his current research at Keele University Business School exploring how Gen Z’s workplace preferences are influencing the operational strategies of UK SMEs. Drawing on over 35 years of real-world experience, the last 14 years leading a successful company through economic turbulence, he brings a unique dual perspective: academic rigour paired with hands on business leadership.

Attendees will gain:

  • Opportunity to network with others attending
  • Fresh insights into what Gen Z truly values at work
  • Practical implications for people practices, organisational culture, and talent management
  • Strategies SMEs can adopt now to remain competitive, resilient, and attractive to early career talent
  • A realistic view of generational expectations — beyond the stereotypes
  • The event will close with a short general meeting
  • Perfect for HR leaders, people managers, and anyone responsible for shaping the employee experience.

Guest speaker: Jonathan Pritchard MBA CMgr FCMI, MCIOB

After a rewarding 14-year career as founder and managing director of Anglesey Group, Jonathan made the decision to transition into academia to pursue a passion for advancing business practices and helping to shape the next generation of business leaders.

Having overseen all aspects of an SME company, driven growth and managed a diverse investment portfolio. Jonathan has now delegated the day-to-day running of the business to others, allowing him to embark on a new chapter.

Currently a PhD candidate at Keele University Business School, having a research focus on how Generation Z’s workplace preferences and expectations influence the operational strategies of UK SMEs. As someone who is passionate about maintaining high standards in all areas of business administration, processes, and service delivery, Jonathan is fascinated by how generational shifts are reshaping the way we work and his goal is to help businesses navigate these changes and position themselves for long-term success.
