Our guest speaker, Claire Merritt from Paris Smith Solicitors, will guide student members through the essential elements of preparing for an employment tribunal.

Claire will cover:

  • Key requirements and documentation needed
  • Completing tribunal forms and submissions effectively
  • What to expect on the day
  • First-hand insights and practical experience from real tribunal cases

This session is an invaluable opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge and hear directly from an experienced employment law professional.


Claire Merritt

Claire Merritt is a specialist employment law solicitor and Partner at Paris Smith LLP, with over 14 years of experience advising on all aspects of employment law. Recognised in both Chambers UK and The Legal 500, Claire is known for her practical, clear approach to complex employment matters.

Claire regularly appears in Employment Tribunals conducting her own advocacy, with extensive experience in unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, and collective consultation cases. She advises both employers and individuals across various sectors, with particular expertise in the education sector.

A trained Mental Health First Aider and member of the Employment Lawyers Association, Claire is passionate about workplace wellbeing and delivering practical solutions. She regularly provides training to employers and HR professionals, helping organisations build effective, compliant workplace practices.
