Beyond the policy: Embedding mental wellbeing in your organisation This could be the lunchbreak you never knew you needed!
Mental health affects every one of us — yet it remains one of the most misunderstood areas in the modern workplace. In this session, we will explore what mental health and mental illness actually mean, building a clearer and more compassionate understanding of the experiences that shape how we think, feel, and function. We will look at who is most at risk and examine the signs and symptoms to look out for in ourselves and those around us, because early recognition can make all the difference. We will address suicide awareness with the seriousness it deserves, helping us understand the warning signs and dispel the myths that too often prevent people from seeking help.
We will also explore how to start a supportive, non-judgmental conversation with a colleague who may be struggling, and signpost the local and organisational support available so that no one has to navigate their mental health journey alone.
Finally, we will reflect on the vital role that mental health first aiders play in creating workplaces where people feel safe, seen, and supported — because a psychologically healthy organisation is not just good for people, it is good for business.
