About this event

Obi Abuchi will host an interactive session which will challenge us to consider how we lead as ourselves, and lead from our core.

The power of compassionate leadership

In a world shaped by pressure, complexity, and constant change, HR professionals are increasingly called upon to balance performance with wellbeing, accountability with care, and organisational demands with human needs.

This interactive session explores compassionate leadership as a practical, evidence-based leadership capability rather than a ‘soft’ ideal. Drawing on neuroscience, psychology, and real-world organisational experience, the session will challenge outdated leadership assumptions and demonstrate how compassion drives trust, engagement, resilience, and sustainable performance.

Participants will be invited to reflect on their own leadership mindset, explore what compassionate leadership looks like in action, and consider how HR can role-model and enable compassionate cultures across organisations.

Expected takeaways
By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Have a clear understanding of what compassionate leadership is – and what it is not
  • Understand the impact of compassion on performance, engagement, wellbeing, and culture
  • Recognise common barriers to compassionate leadership and how to navigate them
  • Explore the link between self-compassion, resilience, and leadership effectiveness
  • Identify practical behaviours HR professionals can model and enable to create compassionate, high-performing environments
  • Leave with clear personal reflections and actions they can apply in their role and organisation
