Explore how people professionals can engage and retain volunteers in a changing world where the demand for volunteers is increasing.

Geoff Milton, Michael Larbalestier from the CIPD Branch in South West London and Zoe Raymond from the CIPD Trust will share their experiences of recruiting, engaging, retaining and developing volunteers in organisations.

This session will also include an interactive volunteer set up scenario covering the different stages of the Volunteer process, management and leadership, including coaching volunteers practical tips.


About the speakers

Michael Larbalestier

Michael Larbalestier is a digital learning and innovation specialist with extensive experience in career development. As a NICEC Fellow, active CIPD member, and CDI Project Associate, he champions digital confidence among career practitioners, leveraging technology to empower individuals and organisations to thrive in an ever-changing digital landscape.


Geoffrey Milton

Geoffrey is Director and Founder of AllAboutPeople.UK which provides Mediation and Conflict Management services. He is a senior Human Resources professional with extensive European and UK experience across a wide range of sectors including shipping and logistics, aviation, telecoms and technology, and retail He was the Executive Director Human Resources & Organisation Development at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He is also a Visiting Lecturer in Business Ethics. Geoffrey is experienced in workplace conflict and disputes, in executive and organisation contexts. He is both a Workplace and Civil and Commercial accredited mediator. He is also an accredited Conflict Management coach. Geoffrey is a Civil Mediation Council (CMC) registered mediator.


Zoe Raymond Programme Design & Development Manager CIPD Trust.

Zoë Raymond is an experienced volunteer management professional with a wealth of experience of involving volunteers in a range of different organisations. She is currently working for the CIPD Trust as the Programme Design and Development Manager where she leads on developing innovative programmes that enable HR professionals to make change through their unique skills and experience. Zoë has a keen interest in the systems that enable people to volunteer their time and how anyone looking to involve volunteers can support them in the most effective way.
