Kate Palmer, Employment Services Director at Peninsula

Kate is involved in all aspects of HR and employment law advice. She develops Peninsula’s expert law advisors and ensures each client gets the answers they need every time they call.

As an industry opinion leader, Kate’s expertise is frequently sought. She is regularly featured on national television and radio as well as in major publications, both industry and press. Kate is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.

Chelsea McKiernan, Training Manager at Peninsula

Chelsea oversees the learning and development for Peninsula's Employment Services department.

She has over three years of industry experience and specialises in HR policies, contracts, and employment status.

Nicola Mullineux, Associate Director - HR Content at Peninsula

Nicola leads the Group Content Team who are responsible for creating and maintaining a vast portfolio of HR and employment law technical content across the Peninsula Group. Nicola has worked in an employment law research capacity for over 20 years and has spearheaded the HR/employment law content function for the past 10 years.

Her research proactively equips the Employment Law service teams with up to date knowledge on constantly evolving legal developments and topical events, as well as maintaining a collection of three employment law subscription websites. Her main focus is tracking legal change from first government announcement to implementation of new laws and beyond, and monitoring society themes and trends for their impact on the workplace, in order to predict employers’ needs and ensure group clients have the best tools to manage their HR demands.

She presents at employment law forums, writes on employment law developments for national and industry publications, represents CIPD at HR clinics and has appeared as a guest on employment law podcasts.

James Gilbert, Head of Litigation & Operations at Peninsula

Prior to joining Peninsula, James worked in private practice for seven years where he worked for a large regional law firm advising clients on a full range of employment law related matters, including representing employers in the employment tribunal.

James joined Peninsula in 2019 as Senior Litigation Consultant and has since been appointed to the role of Head of Litigation. He has responsibility for professional development across the wider team. James specialises in defending employment tribunal claims and has particular experience of complex discrimination, and whistleblowing claims. James has acted for a range of clients across a broad number of sectors including a national hospitality company, a national bookmaker and several listed companies.
