About the speakers
Professor Stephen Drinkwater, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Business & Law, Roehampton University, and Director of the Centre for Sustainability and Responsible Management
Stephen is currently Professor of Economics at Roehampton University, having previously worked at Swansea University and the University of Surrey. Stephen is also a research fellow at the Institute for Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn, the Centre on Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE) at the University of Manchester, the Wales Institute of Social & Economic Data, Research and Methods (WISERD) and the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM), University College London.
Stephen's main research interests are in applied micro economics, particularly within the labour market, as well as regional issues. His research has primarily focused on labour market discrimination, self-employment, industrial relations, international and interregional migration,
Zita Lourdes Louis BA Hons., MSc., Chartered MCIPD., FHEA.
Zita is the Programme Leader for the MSc in Global Human Resource Management (GHRM) at the University of Roehampton and as Senior Lecturer, teaches on topics such as Leadership and Change Management; Cross Cultural Management and Strategic Human Resource Management (HRM).
Zita has previously led the HRM function for international companies operating in the UK. She has worked across sectors in shipping, renewable energy, consultancy and the Higher Education sector (HEI) developing and proposing organisational strategies and practices in enhancing high performance and people engagement in the workplace.
Zita is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, Vice Chair and Student Engagement Lead (SEL) for the CIPD South West London Branch. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).
She developed a series of expert speaker events titled "Conscious and Sustainable Practice for the Future of Work" focusing on ethical and contemporary leadership and people practice. These events run in collaboration with the CIPD and the University of Roehampton Business and Law School's Centre for Sustainability and Responsible Management.
James Cockett, Senior Labour Market Economist, CIPD
James is a quantitative analyst with experience in a variety of aspects of the world of work, including low pay, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), flexible working, social mobility, wellbeing and education and skills. James uses both publicly available data, and our own surveys to gain insights and he has a keen interest in data visualisation.
Before joining the CIPD, James was an economist in the policy team of the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) where he completed labour market research and evaluation of employment programmes designed to support people into work. He has also led the design and analysis of numerous workforce surveys and has presented to several government departments and key stakeholders. James has also worked as a consultant, completing evaluations of social policy for public sector clients.
