About this event

Join us for out Christmas Branch event with Community engagement with a local charity, lights and donkeys included

The Home of Rest for Old Horses is a small island charity that looks after horses, ponies and donkeys. With a staff of just 4, the Home relies on volunteers to help look after 60 horses and 11 donkeys, 365 days a year.

CIPD has been offered a unique opportunity to visit the Home and hear from the “horses mouth” about what individuals and businesses can do to provide help and support.

The Home of Rest for Old Horses was established in 1950. Laura Bruder is the General Manager and will talk to us about history, what the Home does currently and how, with a small number of paid staff, they rely on volunteers.

After a light buffet, coffee and cake in the cafe, Laura will give us a sneaky preview of the fabulous Christmas Lights and who knows we might even get to meet some donkeys!

Santa can’t attend this event, but it will be a unique event on the IOM and CIPD members will get first sight of this year’s display.

Come along and get into the Christmas spirit and see what this wonderful charity does. The Home is only open on this evening for us but reopens to the public on 12-14th Dec and 19th- -20th Dec to the public when Santa most definitely will be attending.

Places on this CIPD are strictly limited to 32 so please do book early to avoid disappointment.

Donations are not compulsory but would be welcomed on the night
