About this event

In this interactive webinar you will learn how to develop your business acumen and how to dig deeper into how your organisation works.

In this interactive webinar Deborah Wilkes will share key steps in proving the value that HR drives in organisations. You will learn how to develop your business acumen and how to dig deeper into how your organisation works – and therefore open up new opportunities to leverage HR’s work.

About the session:

HR is a modest function – but we’ve got to learn to advocate for just how much value HR delivers to today’s complex organisations. We’re proud of our professionalism – and we can prove the impact that we have on business success.

Every organisation has its own unique formula for success – what’s yours? Deborah will share a practical tool for mapping that out, and for quantifying HR’s contribution – making direct links between HR’s work and business outcomes.

In practice HR delivers through key stakeholders and therefore has to work out what matters most to them. We’ll give you a step-by-step guide to asking them, in a structured way, so that you can create a people strategy that’s business-led and will win support – and budget.

Professionalism also means following the same financial rhythms and rigour as every other function, and we will include how to build a solid business case.

Add to this the skills of HR advocacy, and you will be able to build a compelling narrative for business stakeholders that will win recognition and respect for HR’s value to your organisation – and therefore build HR’s stature and influence.

About Deborah Wilkes:

Deborah was Head of HR for Europe in the IT and pharmaceutical industries before consulting in HR, OD, and leadership and management development in world-leading organisations for 20 years. In 2016 she and co-founder George Naylor researched what organisations need from HR, and Enable-HR International was born.

Deborah partners with clients to increase the impact of HR and has become an influential thought leader, writer and speaker. She brings together deep experience and understanding of not only HR’s challenges but also the exciting opportunities opening up in today’s world for HR to build its influence and stature.

Two characteristic themes drive the work that Deborah does with her team at Enable-HR International – i) turning HR into a function that is business-led, and ii) bringing all parts of HR into One HR Team that’s united and aligned so that they deliver more from their resources.

Deborah is based in Bristol, UK and works with clients internationally including GE, Legal & General, Diageo, AMP, Roche Pharma and many more organisations of varying sizes and sectors.

Deborah’s book ‘Empowering HR’ was published in 2021 and is endorsed by Dave Ulrich.
