Dr. Jo Burrell - Clinical Psychologist | Co-Founder of Ultimate Resilience | HR Mental Wellbeing Campaigner

Dr. Jo Burrell is a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience as a clinician and leader in NHS mental health services. She is co-founder of Ultimate Resilience and a passionate advocate for HR mental wellbeing.

As co-author of the HR Mental Wellbeing Survey and Report 2024 and 2025, Jo shines a spotlight on the hidden struggles of HR professionals, revealing shocking statistics on burnout, depression, and anxiety.

A pioneer of HR Supervision, Jo developed this approach to provide structured support that protects wellbeing and builds psychological skills — ensuring HR professionals are properly supported in the same way they care for others. This work is central to her #MakeHRHappyAgain campaign, which seeks to improve wellbeing across the profession.

Jo is co-author of The Little Book of HR Resilience, a practical guide that supports people professionals to prioritise their wellbeing and take actionable steps to build resilience.

Recognised as an HR Most Influential Thinker in 2025 by HR Magazine, Jo continues to drive change and advocate for healthier, more resilient workplaces.
