Find out more about how your professional body is tackling the barriers to work and creating more inclusive workplaces.

This session will give you a better understanding of the work of the CIPD Trust and how they’re working with People Professionals up and down the country to tackle barriers to creating truly inclusive workplaces. You’ll get a sense of their current programs and opportunities and will leave equipped to see how you can make a difference to people looking to get into and get on in work.


You will be able ask questions to explore the range of opportunities and challenges in this area and review ways you could support to enhance your organizations’ efforts in this area and also your own personal CV.

Leah De Silva, Senior Programme Manager, CIPD Trust

Since November 2017, focused on creating a more representative People Profession. Developed and led the Aspiring HRD Mentoring Programme which partners existing People leaders with those looking to develop into future leaders, particularly from under-represented groups. Passionate about user-led design and talking to CIPD members and volunteers to understand their motivation and barriers, to support the CIPD Trust’s aim to tackle barriers today to create more inclusive workplaces of tomorrow.

Prior to joining the CIPD, Deputy Chief Executive of LandAid, the property industry charity, which seeks to end youth homelessness and held senior roles in other charities, not for profit organisations, following a ten-year stint in the private sector recruiting lawyers.

Outside of work previously a trustee of local charity, Wimbledon BookFest, which promotes reading in young people and engagement in literature for the wider community, promoting better representation in the Arts and Culture space.
