About this event

This event will provide a whistlestop tour of the changes set out in this bill, our predictions and how this may affect your business.

In line with Labour’s goals to introduce employment legislation within their first 100 days in Government, on 10 October 2024 they introduced the Employment Rights Bill, setting out 28 key employment reforms expected to transform the landscape of employment law.

The bill proposes significant reforms including day one rights for unfair dismissal, further obligations for employers in relation to sexual harassment and wholesale reform to the landscape of zero-hour contracts. The Government have said that once implemented, this bill “will represent the biggest upgrade in employment rights for a generation.”

The CIPD Branch in Cumbria and Burnetts Solicitors are collaborating to deliver you a whistlestop tour of the changes set out in this bill, our predictions and how this may affect your business.

This will be a 1-hour remote session via MS Teams. This session will explore the recent announcements in relation to:

  • Unfair dismissal
  • Sexual harassment
  • Reforms to zero-hour contracts
  • Flexible working practices
  • Fire and rehire
  • Changes to sick pay, parental, paternity and bereavement leave
  • Trade unions

We look forward to seeing you there.
