Workshop with expert speaker providing examples of using AI in L&D, taking account of moral and ethical issues

A CIPD poll revealed that only 5% or organisations were using Generative AI (GenAI) to assist their learning and development function. Why is take-up so low? In this participative session, Dr David Pike our expert facilitator will explore what's out there and how to access it; what AI can do to make life easier for L&D professionals; what are the ethical issues; what are the rules.

You will be supporting your Continuing Professional Development because through working with the facilitator, you will:

  • Understand how AI and GenAI systems work, using some basic prompting techniques
  • Use a GenAI system to solve more complex problems, summarise information, using more advanced prompting
  • Understand how to assist with real world activities
  • Understand the potential benefits, limitations, organisational implications
  • Be able to introduce GenAI to colleagues

About the speaker

Dr David Pike, Head of Digital Learning University of Bedfordshire.

My role focuses around the strategic management of digital learning systems which include a Virtual Learning Environment and systems to support student learning. I specialise in using technology to support and develop learning.

The arrival of GenAI tools such as ChatGPT present an exciting opportunity to help organisations develop their capacity to drive and develop change. Part of my research explores how GenAI can be used in different ways, thinking about the moral and ethical implications for the organisations who could, might or are using GenAI.
