The Government's Make Work Pay Plan contains far-reaching proposals for employment rights. The proposals range from removing the two-year qualifying period for unfair dismissal, banning the use of 'exploitative' zero-hours contracts and new family friendly rights. They also include a number of proposed statutory changes to support trade unions, such as lower thresholds for statutory recognition and the right to gain access to workplaces to organise and recruit members.

The CIPD is engaging closely with government to influence the proposals and is very keen to gather insights and evidence from members and the people profession to inform our response to government.
