This UK Government call for evidence highlights the importance of supporting men in the workplace with health-related illnesses.  

In this call for evidence response we highlight our findings from our recent Good Work Index report and Health and Wellbeing report, which we conduct with Simplyhealth, shows the importance of more needing to be done to support men of a working age and their health.  

We also recommend that employers should: 

  • Build a systematic framework to support health
  • Tackle stigma and build awareness of men’s health issues
  • Ensure managers are capable and confident
  • Effective and supportive absence management and return to work  

Recommendations to government: 

  • To create a joined-up approach across government as well as agencies, regulators and stakeholders whose work impacts on the workplace health and disability agenda.
