As part of the EHRC’s guidance, we have responded to their inquiry on sexual harassment and harassment at work

Overall we support the EHRC’s inquiry updating their technical guidance on sexual harassment and harassment at work. We provided detailed feedback on how the guidance could be strengthened, highlighting:

  • how the guidance could benefit from restructuring to help with clarity and usability.
  • user testing the Guidance before publication, ideally through online roundtables with employers across sectors, sizes and levels of HR support
  • greater clarity on how risk assessment should be undertaken with a dedicated methodology and a downloadable template
  • that smaller employers, who make up the overwhelming majority of UK businesses, would benefit from a plain language companion resource.
