The CIPD has partnered with online learning platform, Springpod, to offer a free work experience programme to young people in the UK, aged 15 years or older. The initiative will introduce a new generation to the people profession and demonstrate the wide range of successful and rewarding career options available.

“The CIPD has a unique role to play in supporting the next generation of people professionals. By opening up our profession to so many people, this programme will help us nurture even more champions for better work and working lives.”

David D’ Souza, Membership Director, CIPD

With over seven hours of online content, the programme offers young learners a comprehensive overview of HR and the people profession; from achieving CIPD qualifications and understanding the importance of belonging to a chartered membership body, to addressing common misconceptions about the sector

The new initiative comes after the successful launch of the CIPD Trust and is part of the CIPD’s ambition to create a more diverse profession, and provide people getting into work with access to the expertise of CIPD members and industry partners.

The programme has already seen over 288 students apply. The majority of student applicants (37%) are of Asian ethnicity, followed by students of White (31%) and Black (14%) ethnicity.

“This is a great opportunity for young people to explore a career in the people profession. Springpod’s online programme allows many young people to take part, eliminating some of the barriers which can traditionally exist in accessing this kind of experience.”

Sally Eley, Head of Trust, CIPD

The live virtual work experience programme is taking place from 23 October to 3 November 2023. After this date, it will be available on-demand for 12 months, until October 2024.
