The CIPD has awarded People Development Partner (PDP) status to PETRONAS. The global progressive energy solutions company becomes the first PDP partner in Asia. This achievement demonstrates PETRONAS' commitment to investing in its people function and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

To achieve PDP status, PETRONAS used the CIPD profession map to design a new HR competency framework, the PETRONAS Technology Inventory and Ruler. The framework covers the HR specialisms of:

• Talent Development
• Organisational Design and Development
• Industrial Relations
• Remuneration
• Talent Acquisition.

PETRONAS also adopted a learning roadmap which offers certification programmes for its people function including CIPD qualifications, experience assessments and short courses.

Other achievements include:

• Eight members of the people function achieving CIPD Level 5 qualification with another seven working towards qualification in 2023.
• Seven people also completed a Group Experience Assessment in 2022. Another 13 people will complete this assessment in 2023.
• Completion of HR programmes including HR Business Partnering, Applied Behavioural Science, Talent Assessment and Profiling and Senior HR Business Partnering.

The signing of the partnership agreement by Peter Cheese, Chief Executive of the CIPD and Farehana Hanapiah, Senior Vice President, Group Human Resource Management, PETRONAS, on 23 August 2023 confirms this important alliance.
